Kia has taken the wraps off the all-new EV2 at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, marking the global debut of its smallest and most accessible electric vehicle to date. Positioned below the EV3 in Kia’s expanding EV portfolio, the EV2 is a B-segment electric SUV designed primarily for urban mobility while still delivering the practicality and technology expected from a modern Kia EV.

Despite its compact footprint, Kia claims the EV2 has been engineered to feel surprisingly spacious inside, targeting first-time EV buyers and customers looking for a premium yet practical electric crossover.

Styled under Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, the EV2 carries visual cues from larger Kia EVs. It features an upright stance, pronounced wheel arches, and a strong shoulder line that lends it a confident SUV character. The front is defined by vertical LED lighting elements and Kia’s latest Star Map light signature, while the rear gets wide-set tail lamps and sculpted surfaces for added depth.

Wheel sizes range from 16 to 19 inches, depending on the variant, and the sportier GT-Line version enhances the look with aggressive bumpers, body-coloured accents, glossy trim elements, and exclusive alloy wheels. Multiple exterior finishes—including solid, metallic, pearl, and matte shades—will be offered.

Interior: Digital, Practical, and Thoughtfully Designed

Inside, the EV2 introduces what Kia describes as a “Picnic Box” cabin concept, aimed at creating a bright, airy, and functional interior. The dashboard is dominated by a panoramic digital layout featuring:

  • A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • A 5.3-inch climate control display
  • A 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen

The system runs on Kia’s latest ccNC Lite software, supporting over-the-air updates and downloadable apps. Fabric-rich materials, horizontal design elements, ambient lighting, and physical shortcut buttons enhance the cabin’s premium yet user-friendly feel. Subtle details—such as friendly messages hidden within the cabin—add character without feeling gimmicky.

Space and Practicality

One of the EV2’s standout strengths is its flexibility. A sliding and reclining rear seat system allows rear legroom to expand from 885 mm to a segment-leading 958 mm. Boot space measures 362 litres, increasing to 403 litres when the rear seats are pushed forward. A small front trunk (frunk) adds extra convenience for charging cables and small items.

The EV2 is offered in both four-seat and conventional five-seat configurations, depending on market and trim.

Powertrain, Range, and Charging

Kia offers the EV2 with two battery options:

  • 42.2 kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 317 km
  • 61.0 kWh battery delivering up to 448 km on the WLTP cycle

Both battery packs use a 400-volt electrical architecture and support DC fast charging, allowing a 10–80% charge in approximately 29–30 minutes, depending on the battery size. AC charging is supported at 11 kW and 22 kW, making overnight home charging and faster public charging both viable.

Features and Technology

The EV2 comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of features, including:

  • Advanced driver assistance systems such as Highway Driving Assist 2.0
  • Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Follow Assist, and Blind-Spot monitoring
  • Remote Smart Parking Assist, allowing the vehicle to be parked remotely using the key
  • EV-specific tech like EV Route Planner, Plug & Charge, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability

Alongside the EV2, Kia also showcased performance-focused GT variants of the EV3, EV4 Hatchback, and EV5 at the Brussels Motor Show, reinforcing the brand’s aggressive push into electrification across multiple segments.
