Maruti Suzuki has officially unveiled the production-ready version of its first electric SUV, the e-Vitara. The model will be offered with two battery configurations — 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The company claims the vehicle can deliver over 543 km of range on a single full charge.
The e-Vitara will be equipped with safety and driver-assistance features such as a 360° camera, multiple airbags, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Production began in February 2025 at Suzuki Motor Gujarat Pvt. Ltd. manufacturing plant.
Bookings are scheduled to open soon, and market launch is expected in early 2026. The SUV will also be offered through Maruti Subscription and a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.
1 Lakh Charging Points Planned
Maruti has already installed over 2,000 charging stations across more than 1,100 Indian cities. To accelerate infrastructure growth, the company has partnered with 13 Charge Point Operators (CPOs).
By 2030, Maruti plans to create an ecosystem of 1 lakh+ chargers, covering urban and rural areas alike. A charging point is expected to be available every 5–10 km, searchable through the “E for Me” mobile application.
For servicing needs, more than 1,500 EV-ready workshops are operational, along with doorstep service options.
Global Launch Timeline
The electric SUV was first showcased at the India Global Mobility Expo 2025 earlier this year. Prior to that, Suzuki Motor Corporation presented the model at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy, marking its introduction to international markets.
Its origins trace back to the EVX electric SUV concept, initially displayed at Auto Expo 2023.
On 26 August 2025, the e-Vitara was flagged off for export from Hansalpur, Gujarat. It is a fully Made-in-India EV, destined for 100+ countries, including major markets like Europe and Japan.
