A bold new device from Poco has arrived for testing—one that immediately sparks curiosity. This model is designed to surprise dedicated Poco fans, especially because its rear panel houses an integrated Bose-tuned speaker, delivering an unusually powerful audio experience. The performance is equally striking, crossing the 3-million mark in benchmark scores, and the overall design introduces an entirely new and distinctive feel. The display stands out with excellent visual quality, and the camera system demands a closer look.
This smartphone is the Poco F8 Ultra, the upgraded successor to the Poco F7 series previously launched in India. Being the Ultra variant, the excitement has naturally doubled.
The horizontal camera module resembles a large, clean layout similar to flagship competitors, with refined Poco branding. The “Sound by Bose” engraving enhances the premium look. At 8.3 mm thickness, the phone does feel slightly dense, weighing around 214 grams. It also carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Display
The moment the display lights up, it becomes clear this is one of Poco’s finest screens to date. It features a 6.9-inch 1.5K Hyper RGB AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen delivers vibrant colors, crisp details, and excellent sharpness. Supported with SDR certification, videos can be played at 2160p resolution.
The panel reaches 2000 nits HBM brightness and a peak of 3500 nits, making it extremely bright in both indoor and outdoor conditions. The bezels remain symmetrical and ultra-slim, protected by Poco Shield Glass.
Build & Ports
- Right side: Volume controls + power button
- Top: Secondary speaker
- Left side: Clean, no buttons
- Bottom: SIM tray (dual SIM), Type-C port, primary speaker
There is no microSD support. The haptic feedback is on the softer side, which may appeal to some users but feels less crisp than expected for a flagship.
Speakers
This is likely Poco’s first flagship to feature Bose-tuned speakers, delivering immersive surround sound. The output is loud, rich, and full-bodied, reducing the need for external speakers entirely.
Camera System
Poco introduces its first-ever periscope telephoto lens on a phone.
Camera specs include:
- 50MP main sensor (OIS, Light Fusion 950)
- 50MP periscope telephoto (OIS)
- 50MP ultra-wide
- 32MP front camera
Shutter speed is fast and responsive.
Colors lean slightly vibrant with a touch of contrast.
Portrait images vary—1x and 2x lack consistent depth, while 5x telephoto portraits produce impressive background separation. Skin tones appear slightly brightened and oversharpened at times.
Selfies are decent, with soft skin tones and fair edge detection.
In overall testing (indoor, outdoor, daylight, portrait), the camera performs well but does not reach flagship standards. HDR photos are strong, normal shots look good, but the camera system still trails behind high-end competitors.
Performance
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (3nm), the Poco F8 Ultra delivers top-tier performance.
Gaming tests show smooth gameplay at 120 FPS, with no major lags or frame drops. High-end titles run flawlessly with options like Ultra HDR, HDR Max, and Super Smooth modes.
The device achieved over 3.8 million points in benchmarks.
CPU throttling drops to about 51%, meaning initial performance stays strong but reduces during prolonged heavy loads.
It comes with:
- 12GB LPDDR5X RAM
- 256GB UFS 4.1 storage
- Impressive storage speeds (2300+ score)
- Smooth multitasking with quick app launches
Battery & Charging
- 6500mAh battery
- 100W wired fast charging
- 50W wireless charging
Software & Connectivity
The phone runs on HyperOS (Android 16). Some preinstalled apps are present, and ads occasionally appear in the UI, which feels unacceptable in a flagship device.
Connectivity includes:
- Bluetooth 6.0
- Wi-Fi 7
- 11 5G bands
- NFC
Pricing
The device is currently available globally for €649, which roughly translates to ₹68,000–₹69,000.
Final Overview
After extensive testing, a few aspects clearly stand out:
- Unique and premium design
- Outstanding AMOLED display
- Powerful flagship-grade performance
- Exceptional speakers tuned by Bose
What Needs Improvement
- Camera quality needs refinement to reach flagship levels
- UI ads reduce the premium experience
- Haptics could be stronger
Despite these shortcomings, the Poco F8 Ultra remains a highly enjoyable flagship-style device.
Unfortunately, this model will not launch in India, as confirmed. Only the Poco F8 may arrive, so users waiting for the Ultra variant will need to hope for a future release.
